In 1994 John Kannis Architects in association with Eames Architecture were commissioned to design a 15 storey mixed use commercial hotel resort sited on the edge of the Mandurah Estuary, thinking that was way ahead of which was then, a sleepy country town that was set to change the face of Mandurah forever.

As stated in the media at the time “A stunning tourism & retail development in the heart of Mandurah is set change the face of the country’s second fastest growing city & hone in on the lucrative $2 billion Australian convention market”. (refer to media tab for the complete detailed newspaper article & photo)

A development approval was successfully achieved on this project regardless of the many constraints from overshadowing to general acceptance of the first major high rise project to be taken on in the central city precinct.

Due to circumstances beyond the architect’s control unfortunately for Mandurah this development did not proceed beyond this stage.
