John Kannis Architects have extensive experience with residential developments for the Housing Authority of WA (formally Department of Housing) and have provided architectural services for a range of housing project since 1992 until present.
The Housing Authority provides rental accommodation to eligible households across Western Australia which we have provided our services for the construction of new rental units throughout the metropolitan area & South West of Western Australia. These projects vary from Single Persons & Family Units to Aged Persons (Seniors) Units or purpose designed mobility units for those tenants with a disability.
In addition to new construction for the Housing Authority John Kannis Architects has provided services for the refurbishment of rental housing for 3 major New Living Urban Revitalisation projects in Lockridge (1995 – 1999), Langford (1999 – 2004) & most recently in South Hedland (2006 – 2016).
The South Hedland New Living project alone was valued at $270 million. Over the years these revitalisation projects received 4 awards from the Urban Development Institute of Australia (U.D.I.A.) Acknowledging the Achievement of Excellence in “Judges Award”.
The Housing Authority also provides accommodation for Government employees under the Government Regional Officers’ Housing (GROH) Program which we have provided our services for the refurbishment of numerous dwellings in the North West region of Western Australia to include Port Hedland, South Hedland, Karratha, Wickham, Tom Price, Paraburdoo & Newman.
